The bird of truth comes calling
His wings are firm and strong
But his honesty keeps him from falling

His words flow out like a song
His loyalty in rhythm and rhyme
His wings are firm and strong

A sincerity that's been lost in time
Making us long for days of old
His loyalty in rhythm and rhyme

When tales and stories were told
And we hung on every word
Making us long for days of old

Now this gentle reminder from a bird
Forcing reality to the front
And we hung on every word

Today's hate and anger too blunt
The bird of truth comes calling
Forcing reality to the front
But his honesty keeps him from falling.    JD

Too far from home is not too far.

#FireAndRain for the #Aug19WEchallenge #SongTitlePoetry

I heard this song on my very long ride home from Ohio a few weeks ago and it made me think of my mother because although I knew her 'time' was coming, I always thought that I'd see her one more time again - the pain and guilt ignites a fire that no run or any amount of rain will ever be able to put out

And yes, 'fire' is 2 syllables

*Hope Blooms Here*

The love of a child
Blooms like hope
And flowers
In our existence
Creating a fate
That becomes our home.

As with any home
The pitter patter of children
Alters fate
Because their hopes
Bring into existence
Dreams that flower.

That flowering
Brightens each home
While we exist
Almost childlike
Hoping upon hope
That our lives are fated.

Some dreams become faded
Like dried flowers
But we don't lose hope
Or leave home
To become lost children
Or cease to exist.

Within our existence
Where dreams can fade
Is the childhood
That like a field of flowers
Can outgrow its home
And lose hope.

But without hope
There's no meaning to existence
In o...
