I N V I T A T I O N
This is an open letter with a very simple invitation as we consider the year ahead.
Using just one word in comments below, how would you best describe the lettrs app? We hope to receive many one word comments to this question so please make your mark...
T H A N K Y O U
I find myself addicted to lettrs because I am addicted to reading about the complexity and the beauty of the human condition on this app.
lettrs is a unique messaging platform for people of consequence, writing about the trials and the joys of living in a modern society.
This special place invites people to be "an original"- and yet at the same time to be connected to the vast tapestry of words happening across the world. Perhaps one day in the future people will look back at this mark in time as the beginning, of letters as a second language.
I am proud to be a part of this.
Start a lettrs chat? A lettrs Survey!
We are experimenting with ways for people to not only complete their letters as they do today, but also offer the option to begin chats and running, personalized conversations with paper, doodles and stamps.
What do you think of running conversations / chats at lettrs that can be private within a group, or open to all? Would you like to see this at lettrs? We will of course keep the current lettrs features that you all enjoy but also give the option of lettrs chats as an extra feature for more short form thoughts.
Please comment! Our goal is to make lettrs relevant to all forms of emerging communications and conversations.
Thanks your comments & ...
An agent of a well known celebrity asked me this week what is unique about lettrs. It is a hard question to answer because there are so many dimensions to what this place is about. I explained to him lettrs is better explained by how it makes you feel.
Please add a word below to best describe how you feel in the mode of lettering.
The Uber of Autographs?
I welcome your thoughts! As you may have noticed we are slowly introducing an originality and monetization mechanism for the distribution of collectible messages, with the interactive seal of an autograph's authenticity.
Our original idea was to reserve this patent-pending functionality for only the "famous" persons of sports, politics, and entertainment. But then we realized that the trend in mobile is to unlock the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of EVERY person in the world with fans of their own, even if those fans are your students, players on your team or even friends and family. In fact personal autograph campaigns can raise money for chari...
The Ethos of lettrs
If we are we unable to take just a minute to sign a letter or thought for something or someone we care about, then what do have a minute for? I started this network of kindred spirits with the simplest of rules; you literally had to take time to write, with a one minute minimum before delivery or publishing. Did you know it takes the human mind an average of 58 seconds to complete an original thought or process a full emotion? Everything prior to that is reflex, reaction and impulse. That is the land of chats, snaps and tweets.
lettrs is the network designed for reflection, not reflex, of hand signed communications actually designed to last. It is perh...
Dear Customers of lettrs,
I am thankful for you.
This award is for you. Why?
You supported our idea.
You tolerated our faults.
You lifted our hopes.
You believed in the possible.
And you push us to be better than we were before.
Lettrs is not about technology but about the possible, the human, and the power of the lasting word.
In thanks and respect, lettrs CEO,
The Global Message
I was asked by someone in New York City why lettrs was so popular as an international app. With flags from 170 countries it is quite particular (and peculiar) that the global appeal of letter writing resides in the truth that words can transcend the immediate and aspire to become lasting.
Soon the autographed letters of famous people in sports, literature and entertainment will join this amazing tapestry of global messages of note.
What lettrs did that Twitter did not.
1. Required a one minute minimum before you could publish your letter. Deliberate!
2. Required the receiver of a letter to ask permission to the sender to share it. Polite!
3. Patented the social signature of mobile communications you are willing to sign. Longevity!
Freedom is feeling like you can break the chains of anything or anyone that binds you.
What makes you feel free?
Description Invitation. Please comment on this letter.
Today in Santa Barbara I met the CEO of Instagram Kevin Systrom. I told him lettrs "is the Instagram for words" but I feel it is so much more. Like maybe...The Uber of autographs, the Pinterest of Stamps, the mobile consciousness of our better thoughts. I also listened to the founder of Twitter Jack Dorsey talk about the negativity on Twitter these days.
In your comments below I invite the way you would describe lettrs to someone else who has never experienced it before.
Thank you all, for everything,
What is in store for lettrs 2017?
A new partnership with Major League Baseball and mobile autographs across the nation.
A dedicated channel of letters from India, including a 2017 book publishing of "Dreams of India."
A premium gifting to 100 lucky writers across the world.
More interactive FanStamps to include games, audio and video.
More brilliant paper collections of celebrities, writers and athletes.
Surprises, sizzle, sexiness and substance. Thanks for all who help us make our mark. What else would you like to see in 2017? It's our app because it is your app.
I write to invite others to share their life, their story, through the permanence of letters.
I write to invite creative people to submit their social stamps as an indelible part of telling these stories.
And I write because I know that some words in life should transcend the immediate, the temporal, the fleeting.
I write, and I am lettrs,
We are smiling because the amount of views on lettrs stamps, profiles, signatures and personal letters went passed 6 billion impressions.
We are an experiment not just in messaging but in digital communications - and whether the meaningful medium of letters can live again.
We believe it can, thanks to you.
Dear lettrists....SocialStamps for sale.
First THANK YOU! You compose letters every day that inspire and invite. We noticed, and we have kept building. 😊
Over the next several weeks you will begin to see an increasing number of lettrs stamps that are collectible and yes, for sale. Some economical stamps will be special previous collections that were favorites - and others will be new and fresh, bringing more magic to letter experiences, even interactive ones.
So like any small business must do, the day has come to charge tiny purchases for this precious little jewel of an app called lettrs...that you all inspired us to expand and improve. I hope you find stamps you like as we continu...
I made lettrs for a simple labor of love, to create a network where our communications that matter the most are never at the mercy of communications that matter the least. Chats come and go, tweets rise and fall, but letters last forever.
Happy Valentines Day to the penpal friends across the world who give me the strength to bring this personal idea - this mission - to the many. Do tell me if lettrs has brought you any joy, relativity, love or meaning some time in your experience here. And Happy Valentine's Day.
Dear persons of lettrs,
We decided to unlock your creativity even more and now invite you to create your own paper with a special effect for the viewer. 😀
Tap this letter now and perhaps you will know what it feels like to write and receive a letter in someone's own personal paper.
Your comments about this feature are welcomed! Thanks as always,
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. One thing I really admire about this app is people here have hearts. I've never encountered an app like this before that there are people who actually care about someone despite being strangers.
That's why I came back writing here. I feel the sincerety of the people. Real people. Reading thoughts. Sharing emotions. Whether you're happy or sad. People here will reach out.
Thank you all beautiful people of Lettrs. To the staff and CEO, you guys are brilliantly genius for this.
You have my utmost respect.
When I read the many letters of expression from across the world I am reminded of a restful mind on a hot summer day - where two heads of common hopes can rest upon one another. We are in this network together, an
Taking time to write. Thanks to everyone who shares letters of the next generation.
